What is ISM? You might ask. First, check out our introductory video to get a glimpse of what this group is all about.
History
International Student Ministry (ISM) is an official campus group at UC Berkeley. ISM started in the fall of 2003 with the vision to help all graduate students from various countries (including students from the United States) find out the true meaning and purpose of their lives through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Mission
With this vision, we offer graduate students various opportunities to learn about Christianity along with other worldviews through Bible studies and discussions. If you have ever wondered what Christianity is all about, ISM is the right place for you. In addition to exploring Christianity, we want to build friendships with you through various activities.
Activities
As you start a new life at UC Berkeley, ISM may be a place where you can make new friends and experience different cultures and fellowship through exciting activities such as games (both American and international games), sports (we like soccer and ping-pong a lot!), picnics and out-door trips.
Demographics
We are a group of graduate students, alumni and working professionals from various countries including China, Japan, Korea, Australia, Iran, France and the United States. Though our group is primarily focused on outreaching to international graduate students, we always welcome domestic graduate students in our group for them to enjoy international culture and fellowship. You can be enriched by the diversity that exists in our group.
So, come join us! We look forward to meeting you!
